Criteria for the Best Animation Films/Video Category

Best Animation Films/Video Category is awarded to outstanding Works: Best Animation Films, Best Animation Scripts, and Best Animation IP that combine cultural, entertainment, and educational elements, spread positive values, address life's issues and needs.

The Best Animation Films/Video Category is not only a platform for filmmakers to showcase their creative talents but also a place for audiences to discover and experience wonderful stories created from their passion and relentless efforts.

Who can participate in the Excellent Animation Video/Film Category?

  • Organizations established in Vietnam; foreign organizations with commercial presence in Vietnam (including companies, branches, representative offices of foreign organizations in Vietnam).
  • Individuals who are Vietnamese nationals; foreigners with permanent residence cards in Vietnam.
  • Screenwriters and animation producers releasing on multiple platforms.

Award Participation Rules

1. The contest entry has been publicly released from September 1st 2023, to August 8th 2024, with a duration not exceeding 30 minutes for animated films including the introduction, title, and final information section.
2. There are no restrictions on genre and language. In the case of languages other than Vietnamese, subtitles in Vietnamese are required.
3. The Animation Script category is awarded to works that have not been adapted into films and have not been publicly released.
4. The Best Animation IP category is awarded to all that have not been released and have been publicly released.
5. The contest entry has not received any official awards from any competition.
6. The work should be in MP4 format (H264), with a minimum resolution of HD 720P, a minimum frame rate of 25fps, and a minimum bit rate of 1.5Mbps.
7. The author is responsible for the copyright of images and sound. If using images/music from a third party, written consent from the copyright owner must be provided. If the work is a product of a group of authors, a commitment agreement from all members of the group participating in the competition is required.
8. The dialogue and images of the work must not violate legal regulations, must not go against traditional customs, and must not promote products prohibited by Vietnamese law. The use of maps with the "nine-dash line" or maps that omit the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa of Vietnam is not allowed.
9. Each contestant may only participate in one group. Each individual/group can submit multiple entries in multiple categories. Each entry is only allowed to be submitted in one category.
10. The Organizing Committee is not legally responsible for any issues related to the copyright of the contest entries.
11. Contestants retain the copyright of their contest entries, and the Organizing Committee has the right to use all works, images, and information submitted by contestants for promotional and publicity purposes related to the competition.
12. The Organizing Committee has the right to unilaterally remove any entries that violate the law or the rules of the competition.
 

Submit VCA 2024 application

Organizations and individuals submit their applications online through the Awards Portal at https://dcca.org.vn/nop-ho-so-vca-2024 . 
The application package for organizations and individuals participating in the VCA 2024 includes:
1. The registration form for the VCA 2024 (online registration according to the Form)
2. Encouraged to register as a member of DCCA (online registration at the link https://dcca.org.vn/dang-ky-hoi-vien) 
3. Organizations, individuals information
4. Description of product or service content (according to 5 guiding criteria)
5. * For the submission of entries in the categories of the best animation films/video, please prepare the following materials:

  • 2 Images of the Film/Video (Format: High-resolution files at 200dpi.)
  • 1 Trailer of the Film/Video (Duration: Between 15 seconds to 30 seconds.)
  • 1-2 Poster Designs of the Film/Video (Format: High-resolution files at 300dpi.) 

* For entries in the category of animated film script, please follow these guidelines:

  • Formatting Requirements: Submit the script in PDF or Word format; Paper size A4; Font size 14; Line spacing 1.5.
  • Specific Requirements
     + Short Animation Scripts: Submit the complete script.
     + Long Animation Scripts: Submit a detailed synopsis.
     + Animation Series Scripts: Provide an overall series outline and the scripts for the first 4 episodes.

* For entries in the Animation IP category, the following components must be included in the submission:
PDF Document Introducing the Animation IP:

  • Overview of the Character Set: Content, Style, Concept, Creative inspiration
  • Genre
  • Audience Age
  • Projected Number of Episodes
  • Projected Duration per Episode
  • Character Design Images: Include designs of main and significant characters in the set.
  • Design images of the world view of the Animation IP (main backgrounds).
  • Overview of the development of Animated Film content derived from the IP
    If developing a multi-episode Series: include a summary of the first 04 episodes.
    If developing a Feature Film (duration over 60 minutes): provide Logline and Synopsis (a brief summary of the content) of the film.
    Current stage of the product (In Development, In Production, Completed)
    Any other relevant information the author deems important to include.

6. Notarized copies of business registration, business license, citizen identification card or equivalent;
7. Business performance/results of applying products, services (encouraged);
8. Types of certifications, quality certificates for products (encouraged);
9. Opinions, evaluations from local state management agencies or from nominating organizations/individuals (encouraged).

Time and Location of the Event

  • Submission Period: From April 20th, 2024 to August 8th, 2024.
  • Award Ceremony: The results announcement and award ceremony are expected to take place in September in Hanoi.
